The quiet life of three elderly hermits living deep in the woods is shaken by the arrival of an octogenarian unjustly institutionalized all of her life and a young photographer interviewing survivors of the area's deadliest forest fire.
A graduate of the Faculty of Fine Arts at the Université Laval (Québec City) specializing in cinematography and television production, Nicolas worked abroad including in Libreville, Gabon as the artistic director of Saatchi & Saatchi.
Working with Marin Kamirz at MK2, he participated in arranging international coproductions with filmmakers Claude Chabrol, Abbas Kiarostami, Michael Haneke and Amos Gitai.
He then worked for the Toronto International Film Festival, promoting European productions.
In 2005 he joined the team at the Festival du Nouveau Cinema.
In 2006, the board appointed him as the Executive Director of the festival, which has existed since 1917.
Nicolas is a member of many significant Montreal cultural organizations.
Moira Welsh is the author of Happily Ever Older, about evolving ways to live in our later years. She is an investigative reporter with the Toronto Star and is leading a new project focused on aging well. Moira has written extensively on issues related to older adults, with a focus on long-term care, along with social justice, health and the environment. Moira has co-authored three National Newspaper Awards and a Michener Award for Meritorious Public Service Journalism. She was a finalist for the Justicia Award for Legal Reporting and the Canadian Hillman Prize for investigative journalism “in service of the common good.”
